For those of us in the creative fields, being creative seems to come naturally. But that’s really because we’ve been practicing it all of our lives. As a child, I recall sitting on the floor in front of my family’s one-and-only color tv, sketchpad and colored pencils arrayed around me, drawing more than watching. Lots of children do this naturally; you probably did, too.
Your creativity is still there. It’s probably just masked by everyday life with adult responsibilities. That’s the beauty of Maria Gatling‘s workshop with her daily creativity notebook, “Be Inspired-Create Something Every Day.” You can relearn those childhood urges towards creativity, even though your work or your life doesn’t seem to involve much creativity to you: you get in the habit of doing the fun creative exercises she prescribes each day.
And suddenly—you are creative. You’re just naturally being creative every day. It becomes a way of life, not just something you occasionally make time for. And it enhances every aspect of your work life, your home life and your emotional health.
