THE BEST PORTRAITS convey a hidden truth. We’re presenting artists who portray their subjects’ hidden qualities–the essence–in their portraits. Essence: The Truth in the Portrait, features a modern-day Rembrandt whose painterly photographic portraits are made in camera, not on canvas: William Coupon, noted New York portrait photographer whose portraits span U.S. presidents, sports stars, celebrities, actors, musicians and many iconic figures. We’ve also included individual pieces by nine national and local portrait artists who take a non-traditional approach, working in a variety of media. Our artists are also available for commissions.
